At the Paw Print Inn®, we are committed to the health and happiness of your pet both physically and mentally. Our goal is to enhance the quality of life for you and your pet. Our training methods are fun and simple. They are based on positive reinforcement, repetition, consistency and reward. Class sizes are small (6-8 people per class) to provide you and your pet the personal attention you deserve. You must register in advance to reserve a space in class. Class fees are refundable 48 hours prior to the first class, less a 5% processing fee. All courses will be held at Paw Print Inn®. Due to the nature of the flooring, only soft, non marring sneakers or tennis-type shoes are allowed in the classroom.

| Puppy Kindergarten Class: 1 hour/week for 6 weeks $125 |
Early socialization and training plays a major role in raising your puppy. This is a beginner’s puppy class, utilizing positive reinforcement methods, which motivate your puppy. Your puppy will learn the basics such as sit, down, come when called, loose leash walking (no pulling), how to walk away from a desired object, and how to greet people politely. Your puppy will have socialization time in class. Puppy topics, such as potty training, biting/chewing problems, etc will be discussed: For puppies 12 weeks to 5 months. Puppies must have a minimum of 2 series of vaccinations, administered 7 days prior to the start of class. Your puppy must be able to work in an environment with other pets while on a leash and be handled by a friendly stranger.
Basic Manners Class: 1hour/week for 6 weeks $125 |
This is a beginner's class focusing on teaching household manners utilizing positive reinforcement methods, which are motivating for your pet. Your pet will learn to sit, stay down, stand, come when called, stay, how to pay attention to you when their name is called, loose leash walking (no pulling), how to walk away from a desired object and how to greet people politely. Not only will your pet be well behaved, you will be improving communication with your pet and developing a strong relationship: For pets over 5 months. Pets must be up-to-date on DHLP, Rabies and Bordatella, and be administered at least 7 days prior to the start of class. Your pet must be able to work in an environment with other pets while on a leash and be handled by a friendly stranger.

Intermediate Manners Class: 1 hour/week for 6 weeks $125

This class is a continuation of the Puppy Kindergarten and Basic Manners classes. We will refine behaviors previously taught and focus on distance, duration and distractions. This will help your pet to discriminate and generalize these behaviors. New behaviors will also be introduced. For pets over 5 months of age. Pets must have completed either the Puppy Kindergarten or Basic Manners Class; or have approval from the instructor. Pets must be up-to-date on DHLP, Rabies and Bordatella, and be administered at least 7 days prior to the start of class. Pets must be able to work in an environment with other pets while on a leash and be handled by a friendly stranger.

Valerie has been working with and training dogs for several years. She has recently completed a 3-year program in 'Dog Training and Behavior Consulting" at Companion Animal Science Institute. Valerie is a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) and the Association of Behavior Professionals (AABP). Valerie's volunteer experience has included training basic commands at various dog shelters and trains volunteers for the Humane Society. She also provides private specialized training and behavior modification. Valerie resides in the Ann Arbor area with her four terrier mixed breeds Howie, Scruffy, Sophie and Woofie.
